Let me say from the outset that I welcome all singers whether professionals, aspiring professionals or those who just love singing!
Based in Warrington, Cheshire, I am a highly successful professional teacher of singing, piano and theory with more than 25 years of experience. Trained at the Royal Manchester College of Music (now the Royal Northern College of Music) I qualified in vocal technique (singing) and piano.
I have performed as a soloist in oratorio as well as other concert appearances, stage shows and pantomimes. I was for a time musical director of a theatre group in the North West and I have led music workshops.
The training I give develops the tone, strength and range of the voice enabling the singer to perform comfortably in any style be it jazz, classical, musical theatre, rock or pop.
The voice is a delicate instrument. Each one should be treated as unique.
I believe that it is important to allow the NATURAL development of the voice, by means of carefully structured exercises, without any forcing of tone or strain which can (and often does) lead to damage of the vocal cords. My lessons are enjoyed by pupils and include relaxation techniques and breath control.
Patience, perseverance and practice are the key to good vocal technique and vocal hygiene.
